Nissan e-Power: Hybrid reinvented
e-POWER technology uses a high-output electric motor to exclusively drive the wheels, with the petrol engine generating the required electricity. The result is a smooth and responsive driving experience. This is different to a conventional hybrid, where the petrol engine and electric motor can both directly power the wheels.
e-POWER uses a petrol engine to charge a battery and that alone drives an electric motor, powering the wheels. In addition to the petrol engine, e-POWER also uses regenerative braking to help keep the battery topped up.

The e-4ORCE all-wheel drive technology(1) helps you to feel more in control on your journeys and to face challenging conditions.
How does e-4ORCE work?
Dual-motor power
With two electric motors — one at either end of the car — weight distribution is near perfect, helping to further stabilise the vehicle body. Both motors support regenerative braking, working in sync for a smooth ride.
Four wheels work independently
e-4ORCE all-wheel drive controls torque and braking for each wheel individually, prioritising those with the most grip to assure uphill ascents and reduces the effects of over- and under-steer ⁽¹⁾.
Adapts to challenging conditions
The e-4ORCE system reacts up to 10,000 times per second, constantly adapting to changing conditions and tricky terrain to help bring you confidence behind the wheel.
Safety at heart
ProPILOT⁽²³⁾, available on ST-L grades and higher, allows you to enjoy your highway commute by automatically keeping up with traffic flow and helping keep you centred in your lane through a combination of automated steering, acceleration and braking. This intelligent safety technology helps ease driver workload in highway traffic and long commutes at the push of a button.
INTELLIGENT FORWARD COLLISION WARNING⁽²⁸⁾
Keeps an eye on up to two vehicles ahead of X-TRAIL. If the system
detects sudden deceleration ahead, it will give you audible and visual
warnings to respond and slow down.
INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY BRAKING⁽²⁸⁾
By monitoring speed and distance between X-TRAIL and the vehicle
ahead, Intelligent Emergency Braking can automatically engage the
brakes to help avoid a frontal collision or lessen the severity of an
impact. And when it detects a pedestrian at the crosswalk, it can stop
you in your tracks. The technology also features cyclist and junction
detection for added piece of mind.
INTELLIGENT REAR AUTOMATIC BRAKING⁽²⁸⁾
Helps you back-up with confidence by watching behind you during
reversing manoeuvres. If a large stationary object is detected behind
your vehicle, the system can automatically engage the brakes to help
avoid a rear collision or lessen the severity of an impact.
INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL⁽²⁸⁾
Keeps a set distance between X-TRAIL and the vehicle ahead by measuring
space and controlling acceleration and deceleration to automatically
maintain a suitable following distance within your set speed.
